The Power Vapor(tm) 3.7v Box Mod with VDU!

These mega WOW factor Box Mods will be available in translucent colors, and are a perfect for those that spend a lot of time vaping on the go. The VDU has two functions: (other than just looking incredible!-DaveJ)

Function 1 - When connected to an atomizer or cartomizer, the VDU will show the voltage being supplied while vaping. Every experienced vaper knows that there is a performance curve with the Li-Ion batteries commonly used with personal vaporizers, ranging from a fully charged battery @ 4.2v to a nearly discharged battery @ closer to 3.2v. The VDU lets you know just where you are vaping in your battery's duty cycle.

Function 2 - I doubt that there is any vaper out there who hasn't experienced the frustration of picking up a personal vaporizer and headed out the door, only to realize after the first few hits that the battery is discharged and needs recharging. INFERNO Aces the Acid Test!

OK, so I overslept this morning....

And in my haste to get out the door and make it to work on time, I simply did not have the time to collect all of my PV gear in the manner to which I am accustomed.

Those that know me best are not surprised when I mention that I, like a lot of other vapers, will most always have anywhere from 5-9 PV's loaded with various flavors, batts charged, and ready to vape at any given moment throughout the day.

I'm just that kind of vaper.

This morning however, I had just enough time to grab Beldar and Connie (Big and little INFERNOs), stuff them in my jacket pocket along with 3 bottles of juice, and rush out to the car. Didn't even get time for coffee!

And lo and behold, because I hadn't put them on the chargers the night before, wouldn't you know it?

Beldar started flashing the recharge signal not 2 hours after I got to work.

Fortunately, I do keep a couple of USB adapters and a couple of spare chargers at work, so I pulled out the smaller batt, stuck the big one on the charger, and crossed my fingers, hoping that the smaller batt would last long enough for the big batt to complete it's charging cycle.

I would like to say that I exercised some restraint in my vaping at this point, so that I didn't find myself without a working PV due to two depleted batteries and no backup.

No, really, I would like to say that!

But restraint and vaping?

That, as the saying goes, is not how I roll...

So I continued to chain vape little Connie for all she was worth, creating massive clouds of vapor, even using a LR cartomizer to increase the battery load (cos that's also how I roll!).

The only concession I made to prudence was to switch to pass thru mode when I stopped for lunch.

After lunch I continued my determined and headlong rush towards the end of the blind canyon, and the potential of being without any vaping, taking every opportunity to vape as hard and as much as I always do throughout my normal workday.

But the awesome INFERNO pair rose to the challenge, laughed in my face, and said "Bring it ON!!!"

About an hour after lunch, the big batt charging light was showing green, and little Connie was still pumping out massive clouds of vapor, even though it seemed to me the wrapping on the cartomizer was softening due to the heat I had been generating by vaping it so hard.

I arrived at home today with both units in fine shape, and ready for anything else I cared to send their way.

Needless to say, I have been vaping them both steadily since, and I swear, sometimes, when I take another big huge hit, it seems like I hear someone chuckling softly in the background, and whispering,"So, when are you gonna give us a real workout Big Guy?"

The INFERNO package, plain and simply, rocks like nothing you will ever vape, and no matter how hard you try to vape them to a standstill, they will look you in the eye and deliver!

JuiceBlaster Update - 2 weeks and Going Strong!

First of all, I want to say a very big THANK YOU to everyone that has visited the new JuiceBlaster online store. The sales for the first couple of weeks have exceeded my expectations by a considerable margin!

And we're working hard to streamline our mixing processes to make sure that we get the orders mixed and shipped as quickly as possible. Right now we are running about 7-10 days in house processing time, which is pretty much the standard for hand mixed one at a time custom ejuice.

And we've added some exciting new flavors that seem to be taking the Vaping Community into Vaping Nirvana! The new Tropical Storm and Hurricane Flavors are quickly becoming some of our best sellers.

The 15ml Signature Series Sampler is still the hands down sales leader, but the 30ml Sampler is gaining ground fast. It seems the word is out that the smaller sampler gets vaped so fast that you are ready to order again almost before you know it! (Yeah, the flavors ARE that good!)

We also added the Cherry Berry Bonanza flavor. If you are a fan of a Volcano's Blue Water Punch, you definitely want to give this one a try!

The Tripleberry flavor, also newly added, is a very juicy and sweet blend of blueberry, blackberry, and raspberry. Unlike a lot of mixed berry ejuices out there, there is absolutely NO shortage of flavor in this one!

For example, I did a Peach/Pina Colada for someone this past week that was, if I say so myself, quite outstanding. What a great flavor pairing!

Mountain Two - this juice started off really light to me, maybe cause im used to double flavor juices. but after about 5 pulls on it, the flavor really kicked in. this is a very citrus-y type vape, tasted almost exactly like a mt dew aftertaste to me, i really enjoyed this one man!!! the throat hit could have been a bit harder, but there again this juice was at a lower nic level than what i am used to, so that might be the reason.. all in all, great juice! flavor 4.5/5 vapor 5/5 TH 3.5/5

First off, I don't know where Dave get's his banana flavoring, but it's the best I've tried. It tastes more like actual banana and not a banana candy.The other flavors are perfect. Good rum flavor, good caramel, not overly sweet. No TH to speak of, but it's only 9mg nic, so I wasn't really expecting any.All in all, this is the best Banana's Forster I've tried so far and I can easily see this becoming one of my top 3 go-to vapors.

this is now my favorite "flavor". juiceblaster (aka davej) if you don't know the name juiceblaster yet, you will soon. it's being started by our own resident davej. you're gonna want to save up some money for his juice. lavaflow - i'd heard alot about lavaflow, and wanted to give it a try. so, i blow out my atty, get it ready, put it on the PT and inhale. hmm, not much flavor, but it might just be my atty isn't primed yet, finish inhaling and...HOLY COW SO MUCH THROAT HIT COUGH COUGH COUGH!!!! geez, this juice is giving me so much throat hit and vapor. the vapor...pouring out of my mouth! and then the flavor! the flavor comes out of the exhale and this - this is great stuff. fruity, tropical, reminds me of being on a cruise sipping the daily beverage. this is a great juice! no, this is an awesome juice. since that first hit i now taste the flavor upon inhale, very subtle, but when i exhale massive amounts of flavor come out with massive amounts of vapor. i need to *find* a way to save some of this for my beach trip, it will be absolutely perfect but as it stands, i'm taking a lava flow day today! great job davej, this juice is divine! i will be buying a massive amount of this stuff from you! i've never gotten a TH like this from 12mg before. i actrually have to pace my inhale good job sir, good job!

Ok, here's my review of the Kona Caramel Cream from Juiceblaster (dave j): There is a rich coffee flavor...not too heavy and overpowering but definitely strong. I really enjoyed the taste of the coffee in this juice. There's also a clear caramel taste. Dave did a great job making it sweet and creamy at the same time. I found it to be a very flavorful juice. No problems with it being faint (which can sometimes be an issue for me). Again, the richness of the flavors was astounding. I thoroughly enjoyed vaping this. I must say that one of the girls in the office did find it too strong though (someone who just tastes things to see). I liked the fact that the coffee was strong but still creamy and sweet (just the way I make it at home). The caramel was a nice compliment to those flavors. Good vapor, some coolness (which is something I enjoy) to it. Overall, great juice and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys coffee flavors.

oh juiceblaster...how you have spoiled me. last week i was into mostly tobacco flavor, now all i want is lava flow, 24/7. i'm going to have to buy a gallon of this stuff! this will not be good for my wallet...

Black Cherry Berry Tea 6mg - Smooth overtone of berry and great undertones of cherry. No Throat hit, mellow vape. This reminds me of flavored cherry pipe tabacco in a way, in the smoothness. I was expecting more of a solid tea enhanced than the overtones/undertones to be honest. It vapes well, very well. Using this on a cartomizer sorta seems like a waste, being that it's an ultra rare. The flavors draw out nicely with a volcano atty. This is an instant vape all day. Wish that there was a lil bit more of the tea, but it's still great vape. 5 stars

pineapple - 9mg - wow, this is definitely pineapple. the juiciest biggest pineapple you could sink your teeth into. this is very good. very very flavorful. i actually don't think i have another bottle with as much flavor as this one. that being said it is definitely one for vaping before you are going to clean out your atty because this will take over! once again great TH and great vapor.

Now that our very own davej has his new store up and running, we can order his famous recipe liquids to our heart's content! I suggest the larger size sampler pack b/c I ordered the smaller size and am already needing to order more...

I was nervous ordering. I've read so many of davej's posts that I knew he was a mixing master already, but a few of the liquids had rum flavoring, and a few had banana - neither of which are flavors I particularly care for, but I decided to try them anyway. Am so glad I did! He IS the master b/c his mixes are so smooth and you get an overall flavor instead of a heavy hit of any one ingredient.

The most important components of a liquid for me are flavor and vapor. What you call TH and mean throat hit, I translate to throat hurt (I just can't handle straight PG from some places) so I won't review the TH, but none of them hurt my throat....I was pleasantly surprised! I won't have to dumb any of these down with VG at all. Love that. All of my sampling was with the 10-12mg nic. I tried them all on Volcanos, Magmas, and my PT to see if there were any differences. They are awesome on everything, dripping into a Magma drip tip of course being my favorite way to vape.

The first sample I tried was the Bananas Foster. I was really nervous, but OMG, what a surprise. I've never had the dessert, but for me vaping it was like vaping a banana muffin fresh from the oven. Heavenly. It was perfect with my morning coffee! Flavor=Superb, Vapor=Excellent I can't believe the banana in it didn't taste like banana candy like I was expecting-it tastes like real bananas! Magic!

The second sample I tried was the Mountain Two. Wow!!! Now I know why people order this by the gallon. It is the most awesome vape and he has the flavor down to a science. I'm already almost out of my little bottle b/c I have been carrying it around in my pocket all day vaping it. Absolutely delicious. This is my new favorite vape-all-day flavor. Flavor=Outstanding! Vapor=Excellent and Beyond The more I vape it the better it gets. LOVE it!!!

Next I tried the Lava Flow, again nervous b/c of the rum. Nothing to be nervous about - it tastes like an incredibly delicious fruit salad my mom used to make for special occasions. I've never had the beverage but I love the vape! Flavor = Superb, Vapor = Excellent Note, I added drops of Mtn2 to my drip tip after vaping this and the flavor of both combined was so good I've been doing 1/1 drops of both for the last hour or so!

Dave had already warned me that his menthols were very menthol-y, so I started with the Cool Blast. A drop of this on top of my LavaFlow/Mtn2 in the drip tip is sooooo good! When I got it to just the Cool Blast, though, it was a little strong for me but still very good and very vapable when I want straight menthol flavor. I was a Menthol Lights as a smoker; this would seem like regular menthol to me. Flavor = Superb, Vapor = Excellent I still think it is especially good mixed with the LavaFlow and Mtn2!

I was expecing the Arctic Blast to be just that - an icy cold menthol blast - and it is. It isn't nasty, though, like some strong menthols can be! It is actually very tasty - just very strong. I really wish I knew how he got all his flavors to be so smooth... Flavor = Superb, Vapor = Excellent I almost always add menthol to any flavor I order that I don't love so that I can still vape it and not waste it. This will definitely be the menthol I start adding and will order more of it for that purpose. For a normal menthol vape, though, I think the Cool Blast is the strongest I can go. If you like a strong menthol, you will love the Arctic Blast.

I was unable to fairly test the Kona Caramel Cream due to an oversensitivity to the Kona but Dave has expertly described how I can make it more mild. I admit it - I'm a wuss.

My overall review of his flavors so far: all Superb. Vapor: all Excellent. Webstore design is still new and I have had several webstores so I know those always improve over time. My advice for navigating it now is to type the flavor in the search box, then change the sort button to Sort by Price Low to High, then in the left hand column choose the regular caps, not safety caps (or vice-versa). This will narrow it down so you can better find your size and nic strength without going crazy. Shipping time was normal for such a great price - no complaints. Packaging was excellent! Customer service is fast and awesome. My ONLY complaint is that I did not order enough (not his fault). I just hope he doesn't get so many orders that he can't make mine as fast as I can vape it...LOL.

My First Ever PV Mod - the dGo!

So I finally got the time (and the patience!) to finish my first mod. The big thing for me was to do something that was a bit different. I wanted to do a flashlight mod, but all the experienced modders kept telling me that a box mod would be better for a first attempt. Now I've got nothing against box mods, and I am sure that I'll be building one as soon as the rest of my mod parts come in, but for some reason the flashlight mod just kept coming back to my mind.

To complicate matters, no retail places I visited seemed to have a flashlight that I wanted to do a mod with. They were either 3xAAA size, or were big and bulky near the lens. Now a 3XAAA is totally workable, if you know what you are doing, but being this was a first mod for me, and my soldering skills are atrocious, I really did need something easier to work with.

So, box is better, but too generic. Flashlight is problematic, and probably beyond my skills at this point. What is the solution to my dilemma?

I found it, quite by accident, at a local store.

It's a battery powered personal grooming appliance. That's marketing hype for a nose hair trimmer!

It's got a battery compartment for 1XAA battery, plenty of room at the top for the switch, a nifty little cap that makes a cone like shape that mimics the look of the eGo. And it's only $5, so really, what did I have to lose except $5 and some time?

I'm vaping on it now, and so far, with the exception of the switch button sticking a few times, it's working great! I'm going to go back to that store and buy all they have, and will do a step by step tutorial when I do the next one, because if this one keeps working the way it is right now, there will definitely be another!

So, without further introduction, here is the PV mod that am calling the dGo-

You can't really see it, but there's a Magma emblem on the atty. And the Magma atty not only vapes like a champ, it LIKES the 900mah battery!

The hardest part of the mod was the switch, a smaller one would have been better, but I did want a switch that lighted when you pressed it, to more closely match the look of the eGo. I'm going to have to look around and see if I can find something similar, but smaller! Or just use a separate small tactile switch and LED.

I'm gonna have to order an 18500 battery too. I'm positive it will fit in the compartment with no problem, which will give this little PV 1600mah power!

With the cap converted to a cone, the profile finishes out quite nicely I think. Purely cosmetic, because the original openings in the cap allow a lot more air inside than a typical eGo cone assembly.

Now let's see how long it takes me to drain 900maH!!!!

EDIT: I got about 6 hours of use on the first battery. 3 hours of light use, and 3 hours of power vapin! It's no replacement for a pass thru while sitting at the computer, but I'm thinking that with the bigger 18500's, it will definitely last me all day at work! Sweet!

Nifty Little Spinners for doing a Taryn Spin on your cartomizers

I just love retasking items meant for one thing and making them into something totally different. I had been using a little gadget I made from a cut off pv pouch and an old cheapie necklace for doing the Taryn spin while filling my cartomizers.

It worked Ok, but it was kind of a pain to get the cartomizer into the little opening since it wants to stay closed all the time.

I had recently purchased a bunch of colored lanyards on eBay from this seller:

They are actually quite nice, made for a cell phone or what have you, but work great for a PV by slipping them in between where the atomizer screws onto the battery and just tightening as normal.

I ran across some cute little keychains made up to look like crocs, and it only takes about a minute to turn them into something that looks like this:

As you can see in the white one in the center, a cartomizer fits quite nicely in this little sandals, and I now have a way to spin my refills without having to fight with the pouch anymore!

Wonder how many colors I can find these in?

DIY AC Power Supply for 5 volt Pass Thru

I've been wanting to do this project for quite some time. Trying to get a Passthough PV working on my computers has been problematic, to say the least. I could only get the Volcano 3.2 volt unit to work on Michelle's laptop & my desktop. Even then the power would vanish from time to time, requiring the computer to be shut down and rebooted, sometimes several times, to get it functioning again.
In addition to that, the Volcano PT I had purchased died almost immediately, and after they replaced it, the replacement died within 24 hours. When the third one died in less than a week, Volcano's Customer Service took me up on my suggestion to just give me credit for the pass through, and I would try to get one elsewhere. I eventually replaced the Volcano pass through with a 5 volt unit from LiteCigUSA. It works great, except that it will still only work on the two computers, and it too will sometimes lose power.

The problem, in a nutshell is that USB 2.0 specs call for a maximum of 500MaH power @ 5 volts. Most direct current pass throughs require a minimum of 1500MaH, which is 3 times the USB specification. I had tried ordering USB/AC adapters rated for 1500MaH, but none of the 3 that I purchased would power either the Volcano or the LiteCig PT. I finally decided that the only way I was going to solve this problem was to make one myself, so that I could make sure it would work the way it should.

Cruising the various forums, I had seen posts from people who mentioned using the chargers for their GPS units to power a PT. Most GPS units nowadays use a 5v charger rated at 2 amps. This seemed to be a potential solution to me.

I seached eBay for 5 volt 2A AC adapters, and there were tons of them available. The one I eventually decided upon was this one:

I had already decided I would make two adapters, one for use with my laptop, and one to use with my desktop, so the PT was not running on the desktop's USB power. The price for two of these adapters was a measly $3.30. Of course, at that price, I would have to wait 10-21 days for them to be delivered from China.

It took quite an extensive search to find just what I wanted for the female USB plug I would need to replace the stock power tip on the adapter I had ordered. Just when I had decided I was just going to hand splice a USB extension cable to the adapter, I found these, also on eBay:

Exactly what I was looking for! I don't really need 10 of them, but this is the smallest quantity I could find online anywhere, so I went ahead and ordered them. Cost for 10 female USB plugs with housing was $7.99, which brought the total materials cost to build two adapters to $11.29. Not only had I already spent this much on adapters that didn't work, it was about half the price of an adapter at Radio Shack someone had suggested on the ECF forums!

Eventually all the parts arrived and as soon as I got the chance, I started to work.

Pic 1: Here is the 5 volt AC adapter and the female USB plug with housing.

5 volts @ 2A power should be plenty to power the PT.

I cut off the existing power plug on the adapter, making sure to leave enough to splice with in case I ever need one.

Remove a little over 1/2 inch of the wire casing so that we can connect the USB plug.
Then strip about half of that off each wire so they can be soldered to the pins.

Mount the connector into my handy little assistant.

First wire is done.

Now the second one is done.

Insert the connector into the housing

All done. I added a zip tie to the USB housing since the wire was a bit thick for the opening allowed for it.

MY first test of the new power adapter was a bust. More observant or tech savvy readers may have already noticed that I mistakenly reversed the wires when I connected them. The 5 volt PT has a protection circuit to help prevent overheating. If I had been using a homebrew PT without this circuit, the reversed wires would theoretically not mattered. But since that is not the case here, I had to unsolder the wires, reverse them, and resolder them to the correct pins.

Connect the PT to the adapter again.
Hey look! I got the USB symbols lined up correctly too!

The adapter works flawlessly. Plenty of power to the PT, plus the added length of the adapter cable makes using it much more comfortable, since I've never seen a PT yet that comes with a long enough cord.

To summarize, if you've been plagued by power issues trying to get your PT working with your computer, this is one way that I can personally confirm to solve those problems!

Experiments with Cartomizers with my PV - Day Four

I ran across some additional info, followed up on it, and successfully removed the hard cap from one of the Boge hard cap cartos. The cap came off cleanly, easier than I anticipated. It was actually more work to remove the glue residue from inside the carto than it was to remove the cap. I finally hit upon using a sharp pair of scissors to scrape the glue off, while holding it at about a 45degree downward angle, which worked out just fine. So I will retract my comments about why anyone would want to use these. I have been using the cartos mostly with drip tips, and once the hard cap is removed, these become excellent drip tip cartomizers, with all of the same performance of the soft cap Boge cartos. I also suspect that if you have any spare Boge soft caps lying around you would be able to use these, which would convert them into soft cap cartos pretty simply. Since the hard cap removal only needs to be done once, I can now see why someone might want to save a buck and use these instead!

I also ran across a couple of vids showing how to clean the cartos using a turkey baster and hot water, which is pretty darn close to how I clean my attys using the modified baby booger sucker! Horaay! Cleaning them will be a lot easier than I thought! Haven't had to clean one yet, more on this later as the need arises!

BTW, Lava Flow vapes sweet in this carto, especially on my 5v pass through, and I don't have to power wash an atty afterwards! I do have to watch it closely though, it's pretty much all PG and the carto cooks it PDQ @ 5 volts. Got my first every slight taste of burn using this combination. Fortunately, I caught it immediately and quickly refilled and soldiered on!

One final item worth mentioning. I've been asked about how the vaping may affect my blood sugar levels, since I am a type 2 diabetic. I recently did enough research to discover that if anything vaping actually lowers blood sugar levels. It's also a great way to avoid the weight gain normally associated with quitting smoking. When I get a craving for something sweet, I can enjoy vaping it, instead of actually eating it! You gotta love that!

Experiments with Cartomizers with my PV

It's the end of day two on my cartomizer experiment. Got 5 more to go!

Haven't used an atty/cart for the past 2 days, cartomizers only, except for when I'm dripping on my pass thru at home, mostly to check out the stuff Jaxx sent me, and to try out a new recipe I picked up @ VapersPlace.

A couple of things have already become quite obvious.

The Boge hard cap cartomizers, which were a bit cheaper, work just fine, but are a pain in the butt when you compare them to the soft cap ones. At 20 cents each savings....it's just not worth it. And you can't use drip tips on them without industrial surgery. I'll use them until they quit working, but seriously doubt I would ever order hard cap cartos again, when the soft caps are so readily available at such a nominal price difference. Sure you can bulk order 50-100 at a time for astounding prices, but.....why would you want that many of them in the first place?

Both the Boge & the SLB cartos are what I would refer to as 'cold natured'. The first vape on either of them, when they have not been used for a while, is weak. The second hit is better, and by vape #3 both are fully warmed up and produce quite well as far as I am concerned. Of course, with 30% VG in most of my mixes, vapor production is never been an issue for me. They do produce slightly less visable vapor, but I've got enough to spare that it's not really being missed!

I tried testing the resistance on both, but either my multi-tester is fried, or I've forgotten how to use one! Both show up as 6 ohms, which I know is not right, I suspect my old multi-tester is due for retirement! Actually they are spec'd @ 3ohms, according to the research I have done. Just a little bit higher than the Magma. This means they run a little cooler than a Magma atty, which would definitely explain the slight reduction in vapor produced. Probably also explains why they are cold natured as well.

I've already decided that both seem to perform pretty similar. Plainly stated, that means that in two days, unless I look at the threads, I can't tell which one I am vaping. My overall preference is for the Boge, simply because it's filler material seems to be a bit bigger, and consistently those cartos will take more juice. I've been getting an average of 30-33 drops into a new empty carto, which easily equals almost double what I was able to use in a modded Magma cart.

The SLB has this funky donut covering the filler, which some say should be removed during filling, although my experience is that, trying it both ways, it doesn't seem to matter. What does matter is that the filler in the SLB seems to be smaller to allow space for the donut, which obviously means they hold less juice. I am assuming by looking at them that their purpose is to help keep juice from getting sucked up back into the mouthpiece.

I also like the covers from the Boge cartos better than the SLB ones, which are just plain covers. The Boge covers have a 'butt plug' for the screw end, which comes in handy during filling and storage, and the top cover also has a small plug that goes into the opening in the mouthpiece. As the cartos wear out and have to be retired, you can bet I will be saving the Boge covers. Who knows, I might just salvage those donuts and put some in the Boge cartos too. Wouldn't that technically make them the best of both worlds?

So far I have to say I'm impressed with the overall performance and convenience. Although I have plenty of opportunities to vape @ work, what I don't have is a lot of time to mess around with topping off/changing carts. With almost double the capacity, and using the cartos with a drip tip I can just drip 5 drops or so every once in a while and they keep right on vaping. In fact, to me they are the ultimate auto-drip accessory, a lot less fussing around to keep my PV working while I am working too!

The cartos also performed well on my Magma auto batts, my mega manual batts, my eGo batts. My 3.2v Sit & Go Pass Through, and my newly acquired 5v pass through. In fact, with a fully filled carto, and a freshly charged battery, the performance for either battery style is pretty much identical. I honestly found my Carto powered Magma auto batts just as capable as any of the others in producing a satisfying vape, and I will be the first to admit I was pleasantly surprised by this. Maybe it's something in how the carto works, but the auto batts operation seems to be a lot smoother, no hard draws, no issues with cutting in & out, etc. In short, it just works, and works quite well. You couldn't ask for more. In fact, I would go so far to say that selling a 'disposable' or starter kit with a battery, a charger, and about 3 filled cartos would give Volcano a big leg up on the disposable competition and also be a low cost introduction to Volcano products for those that don't want to commit to the expense of a deluxe starter kit!

I also quickly realized that they are the cat's meow for use with my Sit & Go Pass thru in my van while driving. With highping/Starkification modded carts, I could drain a cart just getting to & from work, and I don't really drive that far! Anything less than a completely full cart and I was either switching carts, trying to drip while driving (NOT a pretty sight!), or rummaging around for a backup PV. The cartos get me to where I'm going with juice to spare. They also perform awesome on the new 5v pass thru, but definitely run hotter with it. They sound like a bowl of Rice Crispies when you vape them at 5v!!!

Last but not least, flavor separation is no longer an issue! In fact, with cartos you are actually using a dedicated atty for every flavor. This means I can enjoy those flavors I have that I would have either used a dedicated atty for, or fully expected to have to do a major atty clean after vaping. It's been great to haul out my DIYFlavorshack RY4 and 555 Menthol and enjoy them without having to think about atty cleaning as a part of the decision to vape them. Tomorrow Lava Flow is getting a carto fill for sure!

Other than all of this, the only other big thing that needs to be determined is longevity. From everything I have researched, the trick is getting maximum life from a carto is to never ever run them dry. This was the over riding consideration in using them with drip tips. At 60 days I still have all of my original Magma attys in serviceable condition. And while some folks do clean cartomizers (using various methods), it's not going to be as quick and easy as my Magma atty cleaning routine.

Speaking of which, I decided as long as I was testing the cartos, I might as well give every atty I own a good thorough cleaning. Gave them all a thorough hot water force flush with my trusty booger sucker, and now they are all sitting in a mug filled with effervescent denture cleaner and in the morning I will flush them once more, and they should be ready to storm the beaches at a moments notice!

With any luck, the guys at Volcano will have some more info for us soon on their plans to add cartomizers to the store. I for one can't wait to see what it is they have planned for us!

Tomato Firmware makes a great wireless bridge!

Since my oldest son Bill told me yesterday that he didn't need the spare WRT54G wireless router I had, I decided to flash it with the latest Tomato firmware and turn it into a wireless bridge so that I can use the Laserjet network printer that has been sitting idle in the laundry room for lack of usable space to hook it up within reasonable cabling distance to a network connection. The other alternative, crawling underneath the house and running Cat5 cable wasn't too appealing, especially in the middle of a Michigan winter! The flashing process was relatively simple. After that was done, it took a while to configure the new bridge so that it could communicate with the existing router, and I had to switch network cables from the normal router to the bridge and back again about a dozen times before I got it all set up. Now every computer in the house can print directly to the Laserjet. No more copying files to a USB key and having Michelle take them to work to print them out!!! Of course, you do have to remember to turn the printer on first before trying to print to it!

Next project will be using my Tomato powered Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 with all of it's advanced network/traffic/monitoring capabilities to replace the stock Linksys router we are currently using!
